Very importantly, it will not be necessary that the output variable moves in steps or bumps. In fact, data in automatic can be used as long as the changes in output cause much larger changes in the PV than do variation from other sources and noise. This also allows the use of setpoint changes in auto for modelling. It is also not necessary for the process to settle out after each major change in output. Of course, the model tends to be be much more accurate with large and sudden changes in output where the PV settles or nearly settles.
You will be able to fit a model to only a portion of a data file (one or a few bump tests) or to all your bump tests at once (if there are no non-fitting events between them including changes to the PV or its trajectory).
Until Tune-Plus is ready, please try our PID Simulator. This is an Analyse-Plus add-on. It can be purchased and easily enabled remotely and can also be trialled (tried) before purchase.
